Collectors/Jewellery Boxes

These are my largest boxes (please check the sizes). The dimensions are 408 mm wide, 278 mm deep, 157 mm high.The tops of the walnut and ash boxes have burr veneer, the oak top is a book matched piece of wild, rippled oak. The handles are carved and turned. The top section has ten compartments, the internal measurements are six at 85mm x 53mm, four at 85mm x 114mm, all 48mm deep. The drawers are not compartmentalised, the internal measurements of the drawers are 135mm wide x 232mm, 38mm deep. The base for the compartments and drawers is black baize. There is a marquetry image of a fictitious bird on the underside of the ash top, and a marquetry image of a ballerina on the underside of the walnut top. Brusso quadrant hinges. Hand-cut dovetail joints throughout.

Jewellery box with splayed sides

This jewellery box has sides that curve out towards the base. Made in walnut with a burr walnut top. The sizes are 330mm wide, 250mm deep, 145mm high. There are two trays made in walnut and lined in black baize, with a 30mm space below the bottom tray. Brusso hinges for the top.

Jewellery boxes with curved sides

The dimensions are 320mm wide, 240mm deep, 133mm high. The walnut box sides and top are veneered with burr walnut, the mahogany box sides and top are veneered with lacewood. There are two lift-out trays with black baize bottoms, there is 30mm space below the trays. The brusso hinges hold the lid at 95 degrees. The four inner sides are shaped with a curved sole hand plane. The Trays and box carcase are jointed with hand-cut dovetails. Because the dovetails are cut on a compound curve these were challenging boxes to make and are quite unique.

Large curved top jewellery boxes.

The dimensions are 320mm wide, 230mm deep, 160mm high. These are fairly large jewellery boxes in mahogany with lacewood lid panels and oak with brown oak lid panels. There are three lift out trays lined in black baize (mahogany box) and green baize(oak box) with a space below the bottom tray. The top trays are curved to mirror the curve in the top. The box and trays are jointed with hand-cut dovetails.

The mahogany box is designed to accept a lime wood panel. You can choose which words and numbers you would like for this box and I can carve them for you (as long as there is sufficient room). This will make a really special gift.
